NOIDA: Two maintenance staffers of a highrise residential society in Greater Noida West have been arrested for allegedly thrashing a 59-year-old resident with sticks on Wednesday night. According to police, the accused have been identified as Gaurav, a plumber, and Jatin, an electrician, who were hired by the maintenance firm of the society. “The incident happened around 7pm on Wednesday, when Pratap Singh, a resident of the society, informed the maintenance office that the overhead water tank of the society was leaking and needed to be looked into. The plumber Gaurav and electrician Jatin were present at the office at the time,” Saad Miya Khan, the additional deputy commissioner of police (central Noida), said. Police sources said Singh was drunk at the time of the incident and started misbehaving with the staffers. Khan, meanwhile, said the two employees got into an argument with Singh, which turned violent. Singh was allegedly beaten with sticks by the duo. “Singh was taken to a hospital for treatment. A medical examination was carried out, which found that he had suffered injuries on his head and back,” Khan said. Police registered a non-cognizable report under section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the IPC against the two employees on the basis of a complaint given by Singh and arrested.
