NEW DELHI: A 25-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by three people in Alipur on suspicion of theft. Police have arrested two of the accused, who have been identified as Ranjeet Singh and Rambalak. Both are tempo drivers. On September 24, police registered a case after they recovered the body of a man on Shahpur Alipur Road. “A hue and cry notice having the description of the body was circulated in the area and in nearby police stations, which led to the identification of the deceased as Nazir, a native of Rajasthan,” deputy commissioner of police (outer north) Devesh Kumar Mahla said. The autopsy report revealed that the deceased had multiple bruises on the body and severe head injuries. During the investigation, a police team scrutinised more than 50 CCTV cameras installed in the area and in one of the CCTVs, the incident was captured. It led to the identification of the three accused. “During raids, two accused were arrested. The weapon used in the offense and vehicle used for disposing of the body were also recovered,” police said. The accused told the cops that they suspected that Nazir was involved in the theft of tyres in the area and hence, beat him up with plastic pipes.
