NEW DELHI: After Jamia Millia Islamia’s queer collective recently alleged derogatory remarks against the community, videos have now emerged from the campus where a group of students was allegedly stopped from celebrating Holi by another group.Sharing a poster of Holi celebration that was scheduled in the campus, a group of students posted on social media that it is suggested that “it is not allowed to participate in the festival of disbelievers.” The post also said the community is “being oppressed in India” and the festival should not be “celebrated.”A senior university official said, “This is an isolated incident and different festivals have always been celebrated on campus. We do not know yet who these people are who raised objections and created a ruckus. It is yet to be ascertained whether they are students of the university. The proctor is looking into the matter and the university will see what action is to be taken.”
