GHAZIABAD: A 32-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stabbing his estranged wife to death with a pair of scissors after she refused to return home with him. The autopsy report suggested she was stabbed eight to 10 times in the neck and chest, leaving her with fatal injuries.Naresh and Vanshika, police said, had tied the knot in 2020, but they had been living separately for the past year and a half. Vanshika suspected Naresh of having an illicit affair, and moved back to her parents’ house. Naresh, according to the cops, had been trying to convince her to return and live with him.On Friday evening, he had gone to visit Vanshika at her paternal home in the Arya Nagar area of the city to plead with her again to come back. When she refused, the accused allegedly picked up a pair of scissors he found on a table in the room on the house’s first floor and struck her eight to 10 times on different parts of her body. Naresh managed to escape as the woman’s family members rushed in from the ground floor on hearing her screams and got busy to take her to hospital.A complaint lodged by Vanshika’s mother said they had found the 22-year-old woman lying on the floor and blood oozing out of her neck and chest. She was declared dead on arrival by doctors at a nearby hospital where her family members took her.Anshu Jain, ACP at Kotwali, said an FIR on charges of murder under IPC section 302 was registered against Naresh on the complaint lodged by his mother-in-law. He was arrested late on Friday night. “During questioning, Naresh claimed he would often visit Vanshika to sort out their discord and had not planned to kill her. He claimed to have stabbed the woman in a fit of rage. The autopsy report mentioned Vanshika was stabbed around 8-10 times,” Jain said.
