A day after a purported video of a moving car with firecrackers bursting from a box kept on top of its boot space near Cyber Hub in Gurgaon went viral on social media, police Friday arrested three men for allegedly rash driving and endangering the lives of people.
Police said that during questioning the accused said they committed the act for “style” and to upload the video on Instagram as a reel.

In a statement, the Gurgaon police said that on Thursday, police had taken cognizance of the video on Instagram in which some men could be seen driving in a black car from Shankar Chowk side towards Golf Course Road, and firecrackers were being burst from a box kept on top of the car’s boot space.
An enquiry was launched, and an FIR under sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of IPC was registered at DLF phase 3 police station, said police.
Police said the three accused – identified as Nakul (26), Jatin (27) and Krishan (22) – who have a car sale and purchase business – were arrested Friday for allegedly rash driving and putting people’s lives at risk by bursting firecrackers from a moving car.
Subhash Boken, spokesperson, Gurgaon Police, said, “During questioning, the accused said they had recorded the said video on Diwali night (October 24). Jatin had given his mobile phone to his friend Krishan, who was following their black sedan, in a BMW car and asked Krishan to record the video. The video was later posted on social media,”
Police said two cars – a black Hyundai Verna and a BMW – and one mobile phone have been recovered from the accused.
