NEW DELHI: Intensifying its attack on AAP over the alleged excise scam, BJP on Wednesday held protests at 10 locations in Delhi and demanded resignation of chief minister Arvind Kejriwal. Two senior ministers in the Kejriwal government – Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain – who are presently in jail resigned from the cabinet on Tuesday.Sisodia, who was handling 18 of the total 33 departments in Delhi government, was arrested on Sunday evening by CBI in the Delhi excise policy case, while Jain, currently lodged in Tihar Jail, was arrested by ED in May last year in connection with a money laundering case.”Kejriwal ji, if you continue on the constitutional post, then a fair investigation is not at all possible,” said BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia at a press conference. The BJP functionary alleged that the new excise policy was approved in a hurry to benefit friends and liquor middlemen.”His pawns have resigned. When will he resign,” Bhatia asked and added that Kejriwal was the “kingpin” of the corruption in framing of the excise policy.Bhatia also targeted Kejriwal over Sisodia’s resignation letter, saying that it is undated which raises a lot of questions. He further demanded that Gahlot should also resign as minister as he was part of the group of ministers of Delhi government that approved the liquor policy.BJP state in-charge Baijayant Jai Panda said, “Both the ministers of Kejriwal government, Satyendar Jain and Manish Sisodia, resigned when they were completely trapped. They knew that now there was no excuse left.”Delhi BJP working president Virendra Sachdeva said that the resignation of Sisodia and Jain was a victory for the people of Delhi. “Several ministers to whom Kejriwal distributed certificates of integrity were found involved in one or the other corruption or controversy,” he claimed.Leader of Opposition Ramvir Singh Bidhuri alleged, “Whenever in Delhi Assembly, any question was asked related to the liquor policy, Kejriwal just laughed because he had no answer.”Delhi Congress workers, under the leadership of DPCC president Anil Kumar, protested outside the AAP’s office at Rouse Avenue. They, too, demanded the resignation of Kejriwal. The demonstrators carried placards with slogans such as “Kejriwal istifa do, istifa do”, “Satyender-Sisodia toh jhanki hai, puri cabinet abhi baki hai”.”Kejriwal should also immediately get the resignation of transport minister Kailash Gahlot for the DTC bus purchase and maintenance scam,” the DPCC chief said.”MLAs Saurabh Bharadwaj and Atishi, whose names have been forwarded to the LG by Kejriwal for induction in the Delhi cabinet, also have besmirched reputations. Kejriwal does not have any honest MLA to choose from,” Kumar claimed.AAP did not respond to the allegations.
