NEW DELHI: The crime branch of Delhi Police has arrested three men for allegedly duping scores of people by promising them a job in a fake government department under the ministry of home affairs. The accused have been identified as Ashish Chaudhary (27), Govind Kaushik (33) and Amit Kumar (34).Special commissioner of police (crime) Ravindra Singh Yadav said Chaudhary, who posed as a deputy superintendent of police, had created a fake government department by the name of “Department of Criminal Intelligence”. “He, along with his associates, recruited several youngsters for the posts of constable, office assistant, multi-tasking staff, clerk and collected around Rs 5lakh from each candidate. Later on, they were even promoted after they paid more money. They were charged extra for posting in Delhi,” said Yadav.Chaudhary told the ‘recruits’ that they would be undergoing a secret training to become “undercover agents”. Police said they got information that Chaudhary was running a fake employment racket and was also running a fake training centre at Rawta-Daurala Road in Jafarpur Kalan. During the raid, 10 male candidates and one female candidate were found undergoing training to become “undercover agents.” “Chaudhary was giving a lecture in the training hall during the raid,” the officer said.His questioning revealed that he was not even a matriculate. Kaushik and Kumar were also arrested later.Chaudhary has been running this racket since 2021. The candidates were kept under strict discipline, protocol and warned of harsh action if they talked to any outsider about the job. The reporting time was 9 am, and the so-called training continued till 6 pm. The training content was basics about working of top government agencies, such as CBI, NIA, ED and SPG. They were made to stand in the sun for long hours on the pretext that their endurance had to be improved. Their social media accounts were deleted, and they were told that they are under surveillance and monitored 24/7.
