NEW DELHI: A 17-year-old boy, who was apprehended for sexually assaulting a minor girl, fled from police custody at AIIMS on Tuesday, officials said.”He was to be produced before the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB). But before that, he was taken to AIIMS for a medical examination,” a senior officer said. Deputy commissioner of police (southeast) Rajesh Deo said that the boy fled from the hospital around 3.30 pm. The officer added that his medical test and potency test were to be done and there was a lot of rush at the AIIMS casualty centre so the boy, somehow, slipped.Another officer said that cops tried to look for him, but he had already escaped from the hospital. When asked whether any action would be taken against the cops who took the juvenile for examination, the DCP said they would verify the facts.Police are conducting raids to nab the accused. They are also scanning CCTV footage of the hospital and nearby places to track the boy. He was apprehended on Monday night in a case of kidnapping, rape, and the POCSO Act. The investigation shows that the suspect was 17 years and 11 months old, and the victim, who was sexually assaulted, was of the same age group. During questioning, the accused claimed to have married the girl who accused him of raping her. Police are verifying his claims.
