GURGAON: An elderly man waiting to cross a road and a labourer riding a motorcycle were mowed down by an SUV being driven rashly on the Dhankot-Basai road on Sunday morning.Police said on Monday they are trying to identify the Scorpio driver, who drove off after the accident. Aarik (35), who belonged to Alwar, and Jagat Lal, a 60-year-old resident of the city, died on the spot, they said.Mosam Khan, who filed the case and witnessed the accident, told cops he was on his way to work when he saw that his colleague Aarik, a labourer employed with the same company, was just ahead of him on a motorcycle.”A speeding Scorpio heading towards Gurgaon from Chandu first mowed down an elderly man who was waiting to cross the road. The SUV driver then lost control over the wheels and the car then hit Aarik’s bike,” Khan said.Khan managed to note down the licence plate of the SUV, which is registered to Gurgaon. The complainant said nearby residents and passersby informed the police and rushed Aarik and Lal to the Civil Hospital in Sector 10. Doctors declared both of them dead. Police said that a team rushed to the accident spot and saw the two men bleeding out.”We found out they were Aarik and Jagat Lal. We arranged an ambulance and rushed them to the government hospital, where doctors declared both of them dead. We have also informed the family members of the victims and handed over the bodies after postmortem examination,” said Rajendra Park police station SHO Parveen Kumar.The SHO said an FIR has been registered against the unidentified driver. Police are also scanning CCTV footage from the area to identify the accused.
