NOIDA: The Noida Authority plans to launch a mobile application-based system to facilitate parking in Sector 18. The move is aimed at ending traffic chaos in the area during peak hours by streamlining parking, officials have said. The Authority has issued a request for proposal for the selection of a concessionaire for the design, development and implementation of the parking guidance and management solution project on a public private partnership (PPP) model. Single-window clearance will be given to the concessionaire for this project, officials said.“The aim is to develop a system for parking guidance for users, assisted by clear and simple directions on mobile platforms. Availability of parking slots on the road and in the multi-level car parking in real-time will be shown on the app,” Noida CEO Ritu Maheshwari said.Sector 18 market is a commercial hub, with hundreds of shops, showrooms and outlets. The Authority offers on-street parking for 1,062 four-wheelers and 279 two-wheelers, while the multi-level parking has a capacity to accommodate 2,823 four-wheelers and 180 two-wheelers at a time. However, due to lack of proper management, the sector faces traffic chaos during peak hours. “The new system will offer parking services in three categories. The first category, walk-in parking, will include motorists who enter a parking lot without any prior booking. This category of motorists may be provided a QR-coded ticket, or any other advanced technology as deemed fit by the concessionaire,” the RPF document states. “In the second category, online reservation for booking of a parking slot, the agency will facilitate motorists to book a parking slot in any of the parking lots through mobile application and smart web portal. The third category, pass-based parking, will have a provision for users to buy monthly passes for indoor parking lots for hassle-free experience.”
