NEW DELHI: A 48-year-old former ITBP head constable, Sudhir Kumar, allegedly died by suicide at his residence in Palam on Friday. Police said the man shot himself in the head after a quarrel with his wife. According to police, they received a PCR call around 8.30 am regarding a firing incident in Palam village. A police team reached the spot and found the main door of the house bolted from inside.”On peeping through a small window above the main door, a person was found lying unconscious on the floor. The window was broken and the door was opened from the inside. On inspection, we found bullet injuries on the person’s forehead and chest,” said a senior police official.The call was made by Kumar’s wife, Rita, who too reached the location and stated that her husband had the licence for the revolver. Kumar retired two months ago. She stated that her husband was an alcoholic, and she had left for her parents’ house due to some quarrel with her husband. The statements of family members of the deceased have been recorded.”The spot was inspected by the forensics team. The body has been preserved at DDU Hospital’s mortuary for postmortem proceedings. Action under CrPC section 174 has been initiated,” added the official. Section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code relates to cases of unnatural death.
