NOIDA: Around 7,000 residents of Emerald Court and ATS Greens Village in Sector 93A will need to evacuate by 7am on August 28, the day the Supertech twin towers are brought down. The evacuation plan for people living in the immediate vicinity of the twin towers was finalised on Thursday at a meeting attended by representatives of Noida police, the fire department, Supertech, Emerald Court residents, Edifice Engineering and Jet Demolition (the companies bringing the towers down). The towers, which are part of the Emerald Court complex, are scheduled to be razed at 2.30pm on August 28. Clearance for people to return to their homes is expected within a couple of hours, but only after a structural inspection deems the nearby buildings to be safe. “Residents also need to remove their vehicles from the society during the evacuation. After the demolition, Edifice Engineering will inspect the premises and give A clearance at 4pm, following which residents can return to their homes in Emerald Court and ATS Village. Security personnel of these societies may stay in the premises till noon,” Noida Authority said in a statement. Praveen Mishra, assistant CEO of the Noida Authority, said alternative parking will be made available to those residents who don’t have space. Fire tenders and ambulances will be stationed in a park a few kilometres off the blast site. Noida traffic police will also restrict vehicular movement on internal sector roads around the demolition site that day. Police said the Noida expressway will be closed from 2:15pm to 2:45pm. The RWAs of Emerald Court and ATS have, meanwhile, started making arrangements for residents who would prefer not to go back to their houses immediately, even if clearance is granted after the demolition. Several families have planned to leave in advance and have been preparing accordingly. “The RWAs are making arrangements in a community hall of Parsvnath Prestige for 150 residents. Some people have booked hotels and guesthouses or plan to stay with relatives,” a resident of Emerald Court said. Abhyuday Agrawal, another resident of the society, added: “There is still uncertainty around certain aspects such as accessibility/distance of parking locations, time required for the dust to settle and whether it would be safe for senior citizens to go back to their houses on the same day the towers are brought down.” Separately, officials of Edifice Engineering and its technical partner Jet Demolition said on Thursday they have stuffed explosives till the 14th floor from the top in Apex – the taller of the two towers – while the “charging” process of Ceyane tower has been completed. The preparations are likely to conclude by August 26.
