GURGAON: Even after six years, more than 200 families in ILD Greens located in Sector 37C are still awaiting piped water supply that has left them at the mercy of private tankers. The society got the approval for water connection from GMDA last month. However, the developer has not yet laid the required infrastructure to connect the society’s supply line with the master water pipeline.Residents alleged that the developer has failed to ensure even an essential amenity like water, which is in violation of the occupancy certificate conditions. They were initially relying on private water tankers but the vendor has stopped the supply multiple times in the past three months due to pending water bills.Despite repeated attempts, the developer could not be contacted.Vikas Munjal, one of the residents who has been living here since 2017, said that in the past few months, the condition has only gotten worse. “Canal water has become a distant dream for us as the developer is not willing to fulfill its obligations. There was no water supply from Wednesday evening. It resumed on Friday afternoon only after we protested.”Launched in 2008, possession of flats in the society started in 2017 in a phase-wise manner. Of the seven towers, five towers have been delivered so far.“Water bills to the tune of Rs 23-24 lakh are pending. Despite paying the upkeep fee at Rs 2.50 per square feet, we are deprived of water. The developer needs to be held accountable,” said Rahul Gupta, RWA treasurer of the society. Contacted, Sanjeev Mann, senior town planner, said, “We have scheduled a meeting on March 15 with the developer and residents on the matter. It is the responsibility of the developer to get the permanent connection for water supply otherwise appropriate action may be taken.”
