NEW DELHI: The Sohna-Dausa-Lalsot stretch of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will open to public on Tuesday and tolling will start from midnight, top NHAI officials told TOI. The highways authority has also written to police chiefs of both Harayna and Rajasthan for patrolling of the stretches falling under their jurisdictions. In order to make commuters aware about the user charges for different categories of vehicles, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is also notifying the user fee and these will be displayed at the toll plazas. Officials said most of the way side amenities (WSAs) along the expressway stretch have been made operational and fuel stations are also functional. They added that the expressway is equipped with all that commuters may require during their journey.“We are deploying marshals at all the entry and exit points to stop any two-wheeler or other slow moving vehicles from entering the expressway. We have approached the state police departments for more patrolling for the next few months. This will be a big deterrent for such violators,” said an NHAI official. He also added that enough signage and cautions will be displayed on the expressway, urging people to follow the notified speed limits. “We are aware that speeding would be a challenge. While we have deployed speed guns at regular intervals and these give live feed to our control centres, we urge people to obey the rules. They must check the air pressure of tyres before getting on to the expressway and should keep it a little less to avoid any risk of tyre burst. The commuters must check vehicle brakes,” the official said.NHAI is also deploying cranes, ambulances and patrolling vehicles on the stretch. The entire stretch has CCTV surveillance and at every 20 km speed detection boards have been installed to alert drivers about the speed of their vehicles. The newly inaugurated stretch of the expressway will provide faster links to Alwar, Bharatpur, Tonk, Bundi, and Kota.
