GHAZIABAD: A 5-year-old girl was digitally raped by a neighbour in her house in Kanwani village in Indirapuram. The girl’s mother is a class 4 grade employee in a private hospital. On Saturday evening, when she returned home from work, her daughter told her about the incident. The mother then lodged a police complaint. The accused is untraceable. According to the police, the 28-year-old accused lives with his wife and four children in the area. “The accused had committed the crime on Saturday around 6pm. When the child’s mother returned home around 7.15pm, she told her about the incident. Initial investigation revealed that the girl was playing with the accused’s children when he called her and took her inside a room in the house where he raped her. When his wife came, the girl tried to complain to her but the accused hushed up the matter by saying that she had fallen on the ground while playing and had received minor injuries,” said Devpal Singh, the SHO of Indirapuram police station. Based on the complaint, the man has been booked under IPC sections 376 (rape), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation), and sections 5 and 6 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the POCSO Act. “Two teams have been formed to nab the accused. His mobile phone has been switched off after 8pm on Saturday. The last mobile location has been traced near Jaipuria Mall in Indirapuram,” added the poli-ce officer. (The victim’s identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme Court’s directives on cases related to sexual assault)
