NEW DELHI: Sensing a certain defeat in the mayoral elections, BJP has resorted to “cheating and hooliganism”, deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia claimed on Tuesday. At a press conference, Sisodia said, “If BJP has the courage, it should accept its defeat now and let the mayoral polls take place without any disruption.” He further claimed the people of Delhi were irked with the “corruption” of BJP in MCD. “In its 15-year tenure, BJP only gave garbage mounds to the people of Delhi and ruined the capital. The people of Delhi were tired of the BJP’s lackadaisical attitude and hence, defeated it in the MCD elections. BJP is now running away from the mayoral elections. People have elected AAP with a complete majority and BJP is not able to accept this,” Sisodia alleged. The deputy CM claimed, “Today, AAP councillors attended the house peacefully and were sure that the mayor would be elected, but BJP councillors created a ruckus again and got the House adjourned for the first 15 minutes and after that, the protem officer came and adjourned the House for an indefinite period.”“It is clear that BJP is running away from the elections. People have defeated BJP and they know when the AAP’s mayor will start working in Delhi, then the work which BJP could not do in the past 15 years will start happening. BJP with all its actions is strangling democracy and the Constitution,” Sisodia alleged.
