NEW DELHI: Delhi University (DU) is set to open admissions at “mid-entry” level and allocate seats to aspirants who have applied under the supernumerary quotas like ECA and sports categories in its third allocation list which is likely to be released on November 10. While the university is yet to issue guidelines for the same, senior DU officials told TOI that the aspirants who have applied under respective supernumerary categories will see one allocation each for the respective categories other than the upgrades under the general category, if any. “Once the list is declared, aspirants will be able to see one allocation each from various categories that they have applied for on their dashboard. This will be additional to the upgraded allocation if they are eligible for it,” an official said. “For instance, an aspirant who has applied under the ECA category and the ward quota will be able to see two allocations on their dashboard in addition to the allocation made to them under the general quota, the admission for which is already ongoing. Out of the allocations made, aspirants will be required to select one college-programme combination and then proceed to complete the admission process.” he eplained Responding to whether ECA candidates will be given the option to upgrade, the official said, “As of now, we intend to complete the admissions in one list itself. However, it would depend on how things proceed and a call on whether subsequent lists are declared will be taken later.” Officials also added that the university is working on modalities pertaining to cancellation of a previous admission in case a student is allotted a college under the ECA quota. “We are working on a scenario where a candidate has already taken admission in a particular college and seeks to withdraw it to go forward with an allocation under the supernumerary quota. Two allocations and admissions cannot be done for one aspirant. The computer centre is also working on the details and the university will issue guidelines on how to proceed with the same once the list is declared,” the official said.
