GURUGRAM: A 27-year-old man was shot dead by three bike-borne assailants in Sirhaul on Saturday. He was walking to his office when the trio intercepted him and rained bullets on him. Police said Pankaj Kumar, who was originally from Samastipur district of Bihar, was working as a supervisor with a private company in Udyog Vihar 3. Pankaj, a BTech graduate, had joined the company in May 2021. He used to walk from his rented accommodation in Sirhaul to his office daily. Around 8.20am on Saturday, he was headed to work when he was stopped by three men on a single motorcycle near Sarhaul Sabzi Mandi, police said. The men started firing indiscriminately at Pankaj, who fell to the ground. Two of the accused then came closer and fired multiple rounds at his head, chest and hands. The trio then sped off on the bike. Many people witnessed the crime but nobody intervened. They then alerted cops, who took him to a private hospital. He succumbed to his injuries in the evening. Police said Pankaj’s family members have been informed and they are expected to reach Gurugram by Sunday. ACP (Old City) Manoj Kumar said an FIR has been registered at Sector 17-18 police station and they are trying to find out the motive behind the murder. “The matter is under investigation. The reason for the crime isn’t clear yet,” the ACP said. Police have collected CCTV footage of the area, in which the killers have been spotted on the bike near the crime spot. Cops are trying to trace them.
