NEW DELHI: The Commission on Air Quality Management (CAQM) on Thursday revoked all restrictions under GRAP Stage-I in view of a significant improvement in Delhi-NCR’s overall AQI. “The sub-committee noted that forecasts by IMD/ IITM do not indicate any unusual deterioration of air quality in the region, with the overall AQI of Delhi to likely remain in the ‘moderate’ category in the coming days.Track the pollution level in your cityTherefore, it was considered by the sub-committee to revoke the orders under Stage-I of GRAP with immediate effect in NCR,” stated CAQM. The panel added that Delhi’s overall AQI had significantly improved from the level of 213 (lower end of ‘poor’ category) on March 8 to 119 (‘moderate’ category) on Thursday. Measures under GRAP Stage-I include proper implementation of guidelines on dust mitigation measures and sound environmental management of construction and demolition (C&D) waste. It also urges halting C&D activities in projects with plot size equal to or more than 500sqm which have not registered on the web portal for remote monitoring. Meanwhile, a few parts of the city like Vasant Vihar and Vasant Kunj, along with other areas in NCR, on Thursday saw traces of rain due to the induced effect of a cyclonic circulation over north-eastern Rajasthan. Weather experts have predicted rain from March 14 due to changes in meteorological conditions. “There are chances that the city will see rain from March 14 onwards as a western disturbance is approaching the region,” said an official from India Meteorological Department (IMD). According to IMD, no major rise in the daytime temperatures will be seen over the next few days. TNN
