NEW DELHI: The minimum temperature dropped by three degrees Celsius on Thursday even as the daytime temperature went up slightly.According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature was recorded at 14.1 degrees Celsius, a notch above the normal and down from 17.8 degrees a day earlier. The maximum temperature was recorded at 31.5 degrees Celsius, six notches above normal and a slight rise from 31.2 degrees Celsius a day earlier.According to the weather department, the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to see a marginal rise over the next few days. However, the chances of a steep rise in temperature are low. On Friday, the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 32 and 15 degrees Celsius respectively. “The wind speed on Friday is likely to increase to 20-30 kmph in the northwesterly direction. This may avoid steep rise in daytime temperatures,” said an official from IMD.The air quality deteriorated to the poor category. Pollution monitoring agencies expect it to improve.
