NEW DELHI : Delhi government has put off its decision to make PUC certificate mandatory for refuelling at petrol pumps. Environment minister Gopal Rai on Friday said the measure won’t be implemented from October 25 in the wake of fears expressed by fuel pump dealers about a law and order situation. “The petrol and diesel association has given suggestions related to law and order. We will discuss these with the CM and take a decision. It won’t begin from October 25 as a decision is to be taken on law and order suggestions,” Rai said. However, the government’s “Red light on, gaadi off” campaign will begin from October 28. Rai said the first phase of the drive to encourage city motorists to switch off their engines to reduce air pollution will run for a month. “The first phase of the ‘Red light on, gaadi off’ campaign will be run from October 28 to November 28. The awareness drive will run in two shifts from 8am to 2pm, and 2pm to 8pm. ” The minister said they had observed last year that a lot of drivers do not switch off their engines at red lights. “We will present them with flowers and request them through Gandhigiri to switch-off their engines.
