NEW DELHI: The admission process at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has begun for those undergraduate courses for which admissions are based on scores obtained by aspirants in the Common University Entrance Test (CUET). For admissions to courses like BA (H) Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Pashto, Russian and Spanish, CUET scores are being considered. Aspirants who wished to pursue the BSc-MSc Integrated programme in Ayurveda Biology were also required to appear for the CUET. According to guidelines issued by the university, pre-enrolment registration and payment of fee with blocking of seats will tentatively take place till October 29. Physical verification of admission or registration of selected candidates is scheduled to take place between November 1 and 4, while the release of the final list after registration, wherever considered necessary, is scheduled to take place by November 9. The university also announced that classes are likely to begin by November 7, while the deadline for admission or registration will be November 30. At Jamia Millia Islamia, where admissions to 10 undergraduate courses are supposed to take place based on CUET scores, the admission process has not yet begun. According to JMI officials, the merit list is expected to be released by October 25. Those interested in applying for courses like BA (H) Hindi, Sanskrit, French and Francophone Studies, Spanish and Latin American Studies, economics and history require their CUET scores. Similarly, applicants to BSc in biotechnology, BSc (H) physics and BVoc solar energy were also required to take CUET. At Hindu College, officials said that 985 admissions had been approved out of which 575 had completed the fee payment. The college has a sanctioned strength of 952.
