NEW DELHI: Two more people, including a constable, have been arrested for allegedly abducting a sales tax agent and extorting money from him by threatening to send him to jail. The role of a sub-inspector who was in touch with the accused cops is under the scanner. He has been removed from duty and sent to district lines. Last week, three people, including constables Sandeep and Robin, were arrested in the case. Constable Amit posted with the Sixth Battalion, who was on the run, and his associate, Jitender, were arrested. Gaurav alias Anna, a “bad character” of Seemapuri, is still absconding. The probe revealed that the suspect SI was in touch with Amit and had also spoken to him on the day of the incident and after the victim was dropped back. On October 11, the tax agent was going to his home at Tahirpur from his office at ITO. When he got down from the Shahdara flyover, his car was overtaken by three people dressed as policemen in a white-coloured vehicle. “He was forced to sit inside their car and one of them put a pistol on his chest. They snatched Rs 35,000 from him. They told him to arrange for Rs 5 lakh, otherwise they would send him to jail. They took him near his house and he gave them Rs 95,000 more out of fear,” said a source.
