NEW DELHI: BJP on Thursday claimed that Delhi government was using schoolchildren for political gains by setting up “I love Manish Sisodia” desks in state-run schools to rally support for the functionary. “It is regrettable that even after Sisodia’s arrest, Delhi government is not stopping its dirty politics in the name of education and has now stooped as low as involving innocent school kids in it,” Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said.Dismissing the charge, a Delhi government statement said: “There is no involvement of any government department or government employee in any such activity. ” Kapoor, however, said, “Under the patronage of Delhi government, special ‘I love Manish Sisodia’ desks are being set up in government schools to garner forced support for Sisodia from students. Delhi BJP strongly condemns this dirty politics. ”Sharing a copy of a purported message regarding the same on social media, Kapoor said as part of the programme, school students had been asked to write messages in support of Sisodia and express concern over his arrest. These messages were then supposed to be delivered to the former deputy chief minister, he added. In another tweet, the BJP functionary tagged NCPCR chairperson Priyank Kanoongo and alleged that parents were being pressured by AAP to get such messages penned for Sisodia. “@NCPCR_ &@KanoongoPriyank ji Please see how shamelessly AAP is campaigning for Manish Sisodia by pressuring government school students. Parents are being pressured to write letters, otherwise students will be failed in exams (sic). ”BJP spokesperson Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga alleged that parents were being intimidated by schools’ administration by threatening to “fail” the students if they didn’t participate in the activity.Another BJP functionary, Kapil Mishra, also attacked AAP on the issue. He tweeted, “Small children from schools all over Delhi are saying Manish Sisodia ji, stop shamelessly hiding your misdeeds and sins in the name of children. If you don’t take bribes, then you don’t have to go to jail. ”
