NEW DELHI: A 55-year-old woman was allegedly shot at by unknown armed assailants in outer Delhi’s Shahbad Dairy area on Monday night. Police said the woman was undergoing treatment at a hospital and her condition was stated to be critical. A case under sections of attempt to murder and arms act has been registered. No arrests have been made so far. Around 9 pm, police received a PCR call regarding the firing incident. A preliminary inquiry revealed that the victim, Santra, hails from Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan. She had come to meet her daughter and her family. On Monday night, when she was sitting along with her daughter Vimla and granddaughter Jyoti on a sofa outside their house, two men came there and one of them fired at them. Santra sustained an injury over her abdomen and was rushed to the hospital, said police. “Five teams have been formed to crack the case. So far, the motive behind the attack is not clear. We are probing the case from all angles, including personal enmity and mistaken identity. CCTV footage from the area are being checked to identify the accused men. Further investigations are under way,” said Devesh Mahla, deputy commissioner of police, Outer-North.
