NEW DELHI: Four men were arrested for allegedly robbing Rs 9 lakh at gun point from the office of a charted accountant (CA) in east Delhi’s Shakarpur area, police said on Saturday. According to police, one of the employees of the CA was also involved in the incident. The accused have been identified as Aman Dubey (24), a resident of Alwar district in Rajasthan, Lalit Kumar (24), Pushpak Singh (22) and Sachin Thakur (23), all residents of Aligarh district in Uttar Pradesh, they said. On Tuesday, police received information regarding robbery of Rs 8 to 9 lakh at gun point in Shakarpur. Police reached the spot where Vijender Kumar, who works as the driver of CA Narender Kumar, reported that his employer had given a bag containing around Rs 9 lakh to him which he was counting in the cabin situated on the first floor, a senior police officer said. Suddenly, two unknown persons barged into the cabin, robbed the bag containing the cash at gun point and fled away, they said. Police checked the CCTV footage and confirmed that there were three persons involved in the crime. The third one was on a bike waiting outside, police said. The technical analysis of the employees raised suspicion on the activities of Dubey. Initially, he denied his involvement, but later confessed to the crime and disclosed the names of other accused persons, the officer said. Raids were conducted in Aligarh and Bulandshar on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday and all the three were nabbed from different places, Deputy Commissioner of Police (east) Priyanak Kashyap said. The accused persons disclosed that they met and befriended Dubey in a marriage function. All the four were in dire need of money and hatched a conspiracy to rob cash from the office where Dubey was working, the DCP said. Lalit, Pushpak and Sachin reached Delhi on Monday. On the day of the incident, Dubey went to the office and when his boss reached office with cash, he informed his associates, She said. Lalit and Sachin went upstairs where the driver of the CA was counting the cash. They robbed all the cash at gun point and fled with the third accomplice Pushpak who was waiting outside on a motorcycle, Kashyap said. Dubey has qualified intermediate CA exam and currently was preparing for final exams, police added.
