NEW DELHI: Delhi University’s Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) for undergraduate admissions closed on Thursday for registrations. With the system auto-locking the college-programme preferences indicated by aspirants, BCom emerged to be the most popular course, followed by BCom (H) across colleges. The university has received over 2.17 lakh registrations. As of 5pm on Thursday, the college-preference data showed that most registrations received for BCom were by Ramjas College with 56,996 applications. This was followed by Kirori Mal College, which received 56,920 applications. The popularity of the course was seen in off-campus colleges, too, with Sri Venkateswara College receiving 54,837 applications and Delhi College of Arts and Commerce 54,426. Meanwhile, Shaheed Bhagat Singh College got 51,968 applications and Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College 51,213. As for BCom (H), Hans Raj College saw the maximum number of applications with a count of 46,624, followed by Hindu College that saw 46,362 applications and St Stephen’s College that received 46,186 applications. At Kirori Mal College, the count was 44,474 and Ramjas College logged around 44,450 applications. Several other courses also saw a high demand, including BA (H) English with Hindu College receiving the maximum number of applications at 50,349. This was followed by Hans Raj College, which saw 49,956 applications and St Stephen’s College 48,543. Even among the women colleges, BCom (H), BA (H) English and BCom emerged as the most popular courses. For BA (H) English, Miranda House received 27,441 applications, while Lady Shri Ram College got 27,405. Gargi College logged 25,234 applications and Indraprastha College for Women received 23, 417 registrations. At these colleges, BA (H) political science was also a popular course with the count at Miranda House being 22,024. The data for LSR showed it received 21,986 applications, while Gargi College received 20,677. The count for BCom at Gargi College was 23,147, while at Daulat Ram College it was 22,086. BA (H) Psychology, which is offered by a limited number of colleges and has had high cut-off marks in previous years, also logged some of the highest number of applications. While LSR received 19,842 applications, IP College saw 19,312 and DRC 17,880 for the course. This year, DU is offering 79 courses and 206 BA (programme) combinations and the first CSAS allocation list is expected on October 18. Once the allotment list is declared, students will have to visit their respective dashboards online and “accept” the allotted seats by October 21.
