NEW DELHI: A day after the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) house was adjourned on Tuesday without electing a mayor and deputy mayor amid protests by some councillors, war of words continued between leaders of AAP and BJP.AAP MLA Atishi said, “I challenge BJP to show even a single video where any AAP councillor is creating ruckus inside the house. BJP councillors had come with full preparation to adjourn the proceedings at any cost.”Atishi further said at a press conference, “We showed you five videos in which it was clearly shown that AAP councillors sat peacefully despite the BJP’s misbehaviour.””BJP does not respect democracy and is not ready to sit in the opposition even after losing the election. It has been more than 50 days since the MCD election results came, but till now, it has not allowed the mayor’s election,” she alleged.Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor claimed Atishi tried to mislead Delhiites by wrongly blaming BJP councillors for sloganeering in the MCD House. She hid the clips of the moments when Praveen Kumar jumped on to the dais area, he alleged.Delhi BJP working president Virendra Sachdeva said that despite having a majority, AAP feared holding elections, making it clear they were not confident of their numbers.AAP’s leader of the MCD house Mukesh Goyal said the party wanted mayoral election to be held immediately. “Our councillors, MLAs, and MPs stayed in the house until 8 pm in the hope that the presiding officer would reconvene and elect the mayor,” he said.
