NEW DELHI: A 27-year-old woman died after she was dragged and crushed by a private bus in central Delhi’s Faiz Road on Monday, police said. The deceased was identified as Sapna Yadav, who lived in Loni and worked as a receptionist at a private firm in Jhandewalan. Her father pulls a cart in the Khari Baoli area. According to police, the incident took place when she was going to her office in Jhandewalan. Near Faiz Road, a bus driven at high speed hit her. The accused driver fled the scene, leaving the his vehicle on the road. Deputy commissioner of police (central) Shweta Chauhan said they have seized the bus which runs from Delhi to Ajmer. The driver fled the spot. “The owner of the bus is being traced and efforts to arrest the driver are in progress,” she said. The incident was captured by a CCTV camera, and the footage shows that the woman was walking on the road when the bus, which was behind, dragged and crushed her. The woman’s body was lying on the road. A few motorists slowed down their bikes and after seeing the body but they moved on.
